RHIB Stability

Submit New Vessel for Testing

Vessel

Remember: a RHIB must have 18 inches of fixed seating per passenger (46 CFR 176.113). Tube seating is accepted by some Coast Guard sectors and not others.

Files

For an accurate lightship, upload a profile drawing that shows the waterline — or know your boat's lightship weight. A 3D model alone gives the hull shape, not the weight.

The 3D model is enough to run the deadweight survey layout and the windage check; a profile drawing helps the reviewer and is used when you have one.

Optional with a 3D model
Vessel profile drawing — with the waterline on it
Upload the designer's side profile — the one with the waterline (DWL), and the weights and centres if it states them. We read the drawing: the waterline gives the lightship (the displacement under it is the boat's weight), and any stated lightship, LCG or VCG is used directly. Without a waterline the lightship is estimated from the hull shape, and marked as an estimate. PDF preferred · several files allowed.
Required
Vessel 3D model
Rhino .3dm recommended — the checks run on it directly. STEP, IGES, OBJ, STL, FBX, Parasolid, SketchUp, DXF/DWG and similar are accepted too, but a non-.3dm model has to be processed by us before its checks can run, so expect a delay and a note on your results page.

Collar puncture inputs

Needed for the deflated-chamber test (MTN 01-08 §5.4.2). Without them that section will read "not available" and say what to upload.

Optional
Collar 3D tube model
Rhino .3dm preferred (the manufacturer usually has one); other 3D formats accepted and processed first
Optional
Collar drawing PDF with baffles marked
Manufacturer's tube drawing showing chamber baffles
Optional
Vessel seating arrangement PDF
Where passengers sit for each load condition
Optional
Additional files
Any other PDFs or 3D models for this vessel: drawings, weight lists, prior letters, hull or collar models in other formats. You can also add files later from the vessel's results page.
Prototype

This service is in its prototyping stage. Please be patient: there may be small graphical errors as we work through them — it is getting better day by day. The calculations follow the regulations; it is the presentation that is still being polished.

Accuracy of what you are submitting

All load conditions, seat positions and dimensions produced here are assumed conditions taken from your drawings and model. They are only as good as what you upload.

What happens next

  • 1 · UploadFiles go straight to secure storage. You get a private results link right away.
  • 2 · ProcessThe model is meshed, hydrostatics are built, and each test is run. Usually under 15 minutes.
  • 3 · ReviewYour results page has the deadweight survey layout, the windage check with sliders, and the collar puncture 3D view.

Files are kept private to this project. Results pages are unlisted; anyone with the link can view them.
